Last Twitter Tuesday! For this week, we tweeted about five of the things we have learned throughout this course through the #WhatIlearnedinWR60 community. Some of the things I talked about were how this course taught me the importance of understanding animals' lives, advocating for their rights, and being able to effectively communicate science-related articles. Specifically, using the media was very helpful in communicating our ideas and connecting with our classmates. I enjoyed using TwitterX to learn about the intelligence of crows, dogs and coyotes while learning more about some of the difficulties they face in our world. Additionally, using the media to research our animals helped us connect with other scientists and researchers who conducted studies on our animals. This was beneficial as I was able to gather information about dogs to use as resources in my writing projects.

Additionally, this week we also had the opportunity to follow accounts that are related to our major area of study. Im currently pursuing a degree in psychology and brain science at UCSB hoping to minor in clinical psychology as well. While exploring TwitterX for accounts related to my major I came across SauerZavala, a clinical psychologist. Im particularly interested in this area of psychology and found her account interesting. She talks about finding ways to help her patients recover from mental health illnesses by shifting personality traits. This was fascinating to me as there are so many different approaches to tackling mental health problems.

Overall, WR60 taught me valuable skills needed to be an effective writer. I enjoyed having the opportunity to research animals of our choice and being able to advocate their rights. Before coming into this course, I was unaware of the treatment and difficulties animals face in our world. I can safely say that now I know ways to help make our world a better place for them and us.
