Another week, another Twitter Tuesday! For this week's Twitter Tuesday we utilized our research tactic that we have learned this past quarter to find solutions and counterarguments for our advocacy project. I used websites like ScienceDaily and Google Scholar. Through this, I found other organizations and articles to help support my argument. When doing so, I came across solutions to fight against puppy mills and encourage adoption to shelters. The three reasons I found were bringing awareness to your communities, stopping supporting pet stores, and advocating for better animal welfare rights.

The tweet that stood out to me was about dogs at a pet store. I believe a lot of people are unaware of where these dogs come from and most of the time it's from a puppy mill. While these dogs may be displayed as cute show dogs, the majority of the time they are from puppy mills where they are likely to be inbred and have health issues. Ultimately, supporting a pet store is giving a profit to those treating these dogs poorly. Here is the article to learn more about this issue Puppy Mills and Pet stores. Regarding my counterarguments, some people may believe dogs from shelters are unhealthy and believe that they cost more. In reality, dogs from the puppy mills may seem cheap at first but they haven't had any of their vaccinations and potentially have other medical problems. This will eventually cost you a lot more than a dog from a shelter that has its vaccinations and papers. Ultimately because of this, dogs from the shelters are a lot healthier since they are being treated than dogs in a puppy mill where they are living in inhumane conditions. While scrolling through Twitter, the tweet that stood out to me was from @Dereklzs888 who posted about coyotes and human conflicts. Specficially this tweet https://x.com/Dereklzs888/status/1795359339387171322 is about keeping our pets inside because coyotes tend to attack or eat them. I thought this was an effective argument because pets are like family to us, by keeping them inside and respecting coyote's territories, we could help resolve conflicts. Ultimately for this week's Twitter Tuesday I learned about different solutions regarding my research and classmates.
