Happy week 6! This week for Twitter Thursday I posted about three research articles I recently discovered. Specifically, the one that stood out to me was about dogs being able to identify human and other dog emotions. I find this fascinating because it highlights the cognitive abilities dogs have to be able to understand emotions. This study also found that they can differentiate between positive and negative emotions as well. I believe this is a solid tweet because it gives insight into the intelligence of dogs and how it relates to us.

This week, I also followed 3 new accounts that helped with my understanding of dogs. Specifically, the accounts @lu_la, @andrea_sommese, and @Giulia4Pedretti all focused on studying cognition in dogs. I found these accounts by going through some of the scientists I followed already and seeing what other researchers they followed. The one that stood out to me the most was @lu_la, whose research focuses on improving detection dog selection and performance by investigating traits in early development. This relates to my main research article which is why it stood out to me.  What also helped me find these researchers was using certain hashtags like #dogcognition, #smartdogs, and #Dogfunfacts. From these hashtags, I learned about some of the different kinds of training dogs go through to test their cognitive abilities and about the fun facts that were discovered from this.

Regarding my classmate's blogs, the one that stood out to me was from Lawrence Zhu. There was a post about ADHD in dogs and I found this fascinating because dogs can get similar disorders as us. I believe many people are unaware of this and it's important to understand this so that dogs can get the help they need as well.

Overall I enjoyed learning more about cognition in dogs in this week's findings. Don't forget to follow my Twitter @gin_giselle

Hello Giselle, thank you for sharing these twitter accounts as I am also interested in dog cognition. I was able to find new accounts with helpful information! The article you tweeted about seems interesting and I am excited to see your SciComm article!
