Another week, another Twitter Tuesday! For this week's Twitter Tuesday, we utilized ChatGBT to gather information about important issues relating to our animal. Specifically,  I asked ChatGBT, “What problems are dogs facing in the US.” From this, I was given a list of 10 of the most popular issues that dogs are facing. The two I learned about that stood out to me were about how the overpopulation of dogs in shelters has increased dramatically causing more dogs to get euthanized. Another important issue I learned about was how most breeders inbred dogs causing them to be born with medical problems and in some cases, causing them to die within the first year of life. These issues were truly heartbreaking to learn about but it's important to bring awareness about what we can do to address these issues.

Furthermore, I began to continue my research and learn more about it. I came across this article The Pet Overpopulation Crisis which talked about the population crisis for dogs in shelters and what we can do to help. One of the main causes to this problem is breeding dogs and not being able to find homes for them. To help the issue, we must neuter our pets, take valuable care of them, and adopt them from shelters to help minimize the problem. Another article I came across was Why No One Should Ever Support a Dog Breeder which talked about the risks of adopting from breeders. One of the main issues with breeders is that they sell purebred dogs, which are typically inbred dogs causing them to be born with medical issues and life-threatening problems. As a result, most of these dogs go through a lifetime of suffering from lifelong issues and sometimes, die within the first year of life.

Additionally, on Twitter, I began to look for different organizations that helped address these dog-related issues. I came across @HOPEShelterAZ which was a no-kill shelter that helped homeless dogs live a healthy loving life. This shelter gives these dogs the proper care and medical attention needed to help them. Here is the link to donate https://www.hopeanimalshelter.net/donate. Another organization I came across was @PawsofWarUSA which aims to help both those in the army and dogs who are found during this time. This program helps save dogs who are found at war by providing them with a supportive home and allowing them to be adopted by those who saved them. This program ultimately benefits both humans and dogs as they both get help during difficult times. Here is the link to donate and support https://pawsofwar.org/war-torn-pups

Overall, It was interesting to learn about these dog-related issues and how we can help out. It's important that thesis issues are addressed so that we can prevent suffering around the world.
